The empirical trade analysis center (eta center) was founded in Februari 2004. Its objective is to analyze (changes in) the structure of global international trade flows and its relationships with other fields of economic analysis, such as economic growth and development, industrial organization, and geographical economics.

Currently available information includes data description, a list of country names and codes, a list of sector names and codes at the 1-digit, 2-digit, 3-digit, and 4-digit level of detail, a classification of sectors in different factor intensities (using a five input classification) at the 3-digit level (which can be used at the 4-digit level as well), some research on the dynamics of trade (revealed comparative advantage) of China, and a list of publications.
